This regional training center for aircraft rescue and firefighter training, consists of a Propane Fueled Spill Fire Trainer designed for a 125-foot diameter spill fire simulation with an inactive mockup, and a Propane Fueled Specialized Aircraft Trainer which is an active mockup with seven "fireplaces". The $7 million project was commissioned in 1996. Planning and design of this new center also included access roads, utilities, propane fuel supply and an 11,700 square foot training building with the control and observation room, offices, classrooms, ARFF vehicle storage, and locker rooms.

The Master Plan of the RMESTC includes a state-of-the-art drivers training truck for EVOC, off-road vehicle track, and public and private drivers training. The site is also planned for a structural fires trainer, mock city for tactical training, rubble pile search and rescue and cold weather/swift water rescue training. Additional fire training mock-ups include helicopter fire, automobile fire, small aircraft fire/rescue and rail car fire/rescue.
