Service Award.

Gene joined the Billings office of Morrison-Maierle in 1989. He received a B.S. degree in 1971 in Civil Engineering from Montana State University. Gene has 37 years of experience in administration and design of street, highway, airport and related civil engineering projects. His experience includes more than $49 million in airport improvement projects since 1990 for the City of Billings, and previous to 1990 in excess of $20 million in roadways, water distribution, and mine reclamation. His experience also includes air carrier and general aviation airport project design and construction; design and construction of improvement districts for paving, curb and gutter, drainage, water and sewer line extensions. He is directly involved in supervision and coordination of design teams for development of airport improvement project plans and specifications for the Federal Aviation Administration and local governments throughout Montana.

The BEC’s Distinguished Service Award was established to recognize distinguished engineers for their exceptional technical contributions to the engineering profession, and their contributions to their communities. Gene was nominated by Nick Bailey, a former MMI employee that worked with Gene.

The late James B. Spring, P.L.S., was a recipient of this award in 1983.

The Billings Engineers Club (BEC) is a conglomerate of engineering societies brought together to share their experience and support their engineering societies through service and the recognition of excellence. Members of the BEC include the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE), the Institute of Electric and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and the Institute of Transportation Engineers (ITE) to name a few.
